Job Description
As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will be working to provide civil engineering drainage and highways design solutions on a range of infrastructure projects from initial scheme concept through to detailed design and construction stages, often working as part of multi-disciplinary teams. You will be involved in the design of highway schemes and drainage systems in a BIM environment using tools such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Civil3D, OpenRoads Designer, and MicroDrainage. Tasks may include the preparation of integrated models to a high level of accuracy and advance BIM capability. In addition to this, you will also be involved in and supported with commercial and contractual aspects of projects.
You will support in the following areas:
* Interpreting industry design guidance and standards e.g., Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Manual for Streets, Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works, Sewers for Adoption, UK Building Regulations Parts H and M, CIRIA C753 The SuDS Manual, British Standards 12056, 752 etc. and relevant local Council design guidance documents.
* Working collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams with other disciplines, such as structural, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical professionals.
* Taking the initiative and thinking innovatively and creatively to provide design solutions for technical civil engineering problems.
* Liaising and communicating effectively with clients, colleagues, architects, contractors, and external engineering consultancies. Meeting client requirements for quality standards, programme, and budget.
* Undertaking and delivering a variety of reports, calculations, drawings, and associated documentation e.g., document registers and transmittals.
* Attending site visits.
* Being adaptable to work on a range of projects across many different sectors such as commercial, industrial, energy, railway, and education sectors.
You will be assigned a delegated engineer and a supervising civil engineer to support your journey towards chartership. As part of your application, we will ask you to select your preferred opportunity based on the sector and location.

To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months relevant experience (excluding placements), have a degree or are expected to achieve one in civil engineering.
In your application, you should be able to demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules or previous work experience.
