We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified Occupational therapist OR Physiotherapist, 0.6WTE (22.5hrs) for 7 months, on a secondment basis, specialising in Spasticity Management and Neuro-Splinting with a strong leadership role.
You will have leadership responsibility within the Spasticity Management and Neurosplinting Service supported by the 8a Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner. You will have a significant clinical role within the Spasticity and Neurosplinting clinics and be involved in the assessment and fabrication of a variety of Neurosplints.
You would have responsibility for the development and supervision of more junior staff and students and be part of the senior leadership team in specialist rehabilitation.
You will sit within the Spasticity Team, Specialist Rehabilitation and Therapies Business Unit and be managed by and receive supervision from the Operational Lead, Specialist Rehabilitation.
As an integral part of the Spasticity multidisciplinary team ( Rehabilitation Medicine) you will have clear links internally with inpatient neuro rehab teams (KL and Stroke) as well as the outpatient therapy teams in Specialist Rehab, ensuring both peer and professional support is available from various sources.
To be the clinical lead for Spasticity and Neurological Splinting within Neurological Rehabilitation
To lead and promote the development of the spasticity and neurological splinting service across the Trust and be involved in teaching and developing competencies within this specialist area.
To provide advanced specialist Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy assessment and treatment/ management and be able to develop a multidisciplinary rehab plan of patients with complex neurological conditions who may have diverse presentations and complex needs, in a variety of clinical settings.
To ensure that Neurological Rehabilitation Services in Derby are engaged in relevant research projects/clinical trials and implement and evaluate new and innovative clinically effective treatment techniques in order to establish Derby as a centre of excellence.
