Danny Sullivan Group are currently looking to fill a Design Manager role that we have available on CP7 rail framework in the Bristol/Swindon area.
Ideal candidate will have strong rail and civil engineering background with strong quality and design knowledge and experience.

Apply the principles of the company Design Management Best Practice Guide to foster a collaborative relationship between design and production teams.Technical Oversight
Be familiar with the technical requirements of the project.
Facilitate technical co-ordination between disciplines
Facilitate review of design deliverables to ensure required compliance is achieved.
Devise tools to track and report on Compliance with Client’s requirements as defined in the main contract documentation
Application of relevant Network Rail, British Standards and sector or Client-specific standards,
Production team requirements for buildability (cost, programme, safety, repeatability, design for offsite manufacture).
Completeness of information, level of detail
Technical assurance: evidence of checking, review of deliverables, provision of Design Checks to required category of independence.
General support to Contractors Engineering Manager, CEM, during design process
Understanding of Rail environment and general constraints on design, eg access, proximity to railway and clearances, Overhead line and signalling constraints
Lead HAZID and CSM compliance for project
Ability to chair IDC/R (Interdisciplinary Check / Review meetings) on behalf of the CEM if/when required
Manager design coordinator and ensure day to day tasks are delegated to them and check on completion of tasks and report back to CEM
Complete period dashboard, good understanding and use of excel, formulae, graphs etc and ideally power-bi or willingness to learn.
Ensure all project trackers are completed, upto date and deliverables tracked as needed. Design coordinator is expected to support Design Manager.Legislative Compliance
Ensure compliance with CDM regulations as they apply to design.
Oversee fulfillment of Principal Designer, Common Safety Method, and Engineering Safety Management functions to the extent that Taylor Woodrow has relevant duties to discharge on the particular project.Design for Health and Safety
Challenge Work-in-Progress design and facilitate development of design that eliminates or mitigates construction health and safety risk: engage production team (company and supply chain) in design reviews to this end.
Ensure lead designer maintains Design Decision Register.
Assist the business/project in achieving the objectives/targets set in the Taylor Woodrow Carbon Strategy within your specific work activities.Commercial and Contract Admin
With appropriate support from commercial staff:
Lead administration of design sub-contract;
Lead administration of main contract with regard to Contractor’s design (raise Early Warnings, Compensation Event notifications etc.)
Monitor cost and schedule performance of sub-contracted designers using EPPR proforma from Design Manager’s Toolkit (or project-specific EVM based pro-forma).
Review subcontracted designers’ applications for payment and authorize as appropriate.BIM
With support of company and Design Consultant’s BIM specialists participate in development of project BIM strategy oversee implementation of BIM Execution Plan.
Understand what BIM is, understand the implications and value proposition of BIM within your organisation.
Understanding and ability to work within ProjectWise or equivalent CDE to manage design works
Experience/qualifications:
Understand the requirements of ISO 9001 with respect to design.
Be familiar with company and VCUK tools and procedures and their application to achieve ISO 9001 compliance.
Draft project-specific Design Management Plan and revise same periodically
Control and track design change using Design Manager’s Toolkit.
Implement company and/or client’s design assurance procedures.
Understanding of NR/L2/INI/02009, NR/L2/CIV/003, NR/L2/CIV/003, NR/L2/P3M/201 and ability to manage works to these requirements
Preferred Civil engineering background, experience of Earthworks and heavy civils
Preferred experience of framework environment, and experience of multiple projects over multiple geographic locations
