We are currently looking for experienced, qualified Science teacher to join a small Pupil Referral Unit medical provision in Islington.
The Role
In this Science Teacher role you will be teaching KS3/KS4 Science to 11 – 16 year old students who are unable to attend mainstream school due to medical and/or mental health or wellbeing needs.
This is an outreach-based role, meaning you will deliver lessons within:

* Home or community-based settings
Many pupils will be working below the expected level and lessons will need to be planned and delivered according to their individual needs. You will need to be approachable and patient and be able to build a strong rapport with the students. You will be working closely with other staff and professionals to support students with emotional and social behavioural needs.
The Provision
This specialist medical provision is based within a larger PRU in Islington, North London and operates across 3 main areas. The first is based within the larger PRU school, the second within a north London hospital and a home-education/outreach service. The provision supports students unable to attend school due to medical conditions via classroom-based teaching and home tuition for pupils ages 11-16 who have a variety of ongoing medical needs generally relating to emotional-based school avoidance, anxiety, self-harm, adverse childhood experiences and trauma. A number of young people also have additional diagnoses including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and special education needs. The provision is led by an exceptional and dedicated staff team who work closely with parents and external agencies to ensure pupils flourish, often establishing the foundations to becoming their best self and fulfilling their future potential.
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Science Specialism (KS3/KS4)
* Experience working with students with mental health needs, SEN, or alternative provision
* A calm, resilient, and patient approach
