A new opportunity has arisen for a Senior ATO. This position will be based in the Aseptic Services Unit in pharmacy.
You will participate in the preparation, decontamination and manufacture of aseptically prepared products, primarily Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT).
This role will give you the opportunity to further develop in depth aseptic dispensing skills, as well as the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge, including clinical trials.

Main duties of the job
1. To follow good manufacturing practice (GMP) at all times.
2. To generate worksheets and labels, ensuring medicines are charged correctly using the pharmacy computer system.
3. To assemble drugs, diluents and consumables prior to aseptic dispensing.
4. To participate in 'in-process' checks of drugs, diluents and consumables prior to aseptic dispensing.
5. To assist with decontamination of products from the support room & cleanroom prior to preparation (spraying and wiping).
6. To check/prepare the isolators are ready for use before each session.
7. To aseptically dispense injections and infusions within the appropriate work zone.
8. To in-process volume check injections and infusions.
9. To final pack and label prepared items and pass them to the final checking stage.
10. To dispense batched products, including product selection, labelling and packaging.
11. To order and dispense outsourced patient specific items.

12. To be registered as a named person on the Intrathecal Chemotherapy register, in order to complete the above tasks for Intrathecal drugs.
13. To only complete the above tasks if validations and competencies have been completed and authorised, and to keep all validations and competencies for the above tasks in date.

Person Specification
Education, Training and Qualifications
* 4 GSCEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent Level 2 numeracy and Literacy or CSE grade 1)
Knowledge and Experience
* Evidence of good IT skills, eg Microsoft applications
* Experience of following detailed protocols or procedures
* Previous Aseptic experience
* Knowledge of medicines including how to handle potentially hazardous medicines/substances
Skills
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and in team environment and as an individual
