Position Overview:
My client is seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to work alongside our Automation Technicians in producing electrical wiring diagrams for our electrical control systems. This role is integral to the development and transition of electrical design processes, particularly in the shift from AutoCAD to EPLAN. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating electrical designs and documentation while ensuring that projects are completed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Drawing Transition: Assist with the ongoing transition of electrical drawings from AutoCAD to EPLAN, collaborating with the Automation Department to establish drawing standards and working methods.
* Generate Electrical Designs: Produce electrical wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and supporting electrical documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), Component Lists, Cable Schedules, and Terminal Rail Layouts.
* Project Lifecycle Support: Ensure that all electrical drawings and documentation are updated in real-time throughout the project lifecycle, sharing them with all relevant departments.
* Database Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive database of preferred electrical devices, ensuring consistency in functional hardware across projects.
* Collaborative Work: Work effectively with the Automation Technicians and other cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project specifications and quality standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Continuously look for ways to improve the design and documentation process, driving efficiencies and ensuring best practices are followed.
Experience & Knowledge:
Essential:
* Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g., apprenticeship or equivalent).
* Proven experience in electrical design, specifically in generating electrical wiring diagrams and control panel layouts.
* Strong knowledge of electrical design software, with hands-on experience using EPLAN or AUTOCAD Electrical
* Ability to create and manage supporting electrical documentation such as BOMs, Cable Schedules, and Terminal Rail Layouts.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems and components used in automated control systems.
* Ability to work within project environments and collaborate with cross-functional project teams
