The Civil Service Commission (CSC) regulates external recruitment, including at the most senior levels, into the Civil Service and ensures it is fair, open and based on merit. We are looking for an individual to join our high-profile organisation based in the heart of Westminster.
This is an exciting opportunity to work across the breadth of government and make vital contributions to the effectiveness of the Civil Service. This will include working with senior civil servants, government departments and the Civil Service Commissioners to ensure the Civil Service operates within the standards set out in the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 and the Civil Service Commission's Recruitment Principles (2018), and upholds the values set out in the Civil Service Code: honesty, integrity, objectivity and impartiality.
The team also supports the Board of Commissioners chaired by the Rt. Hon. Baroness Stuart, the First Civil Service Commissioner. We are an expert, friendly and impactful team with a highly collaborative ethos. Staff survey results reflect how the CSC and wider team place great emphasis on wellbeing and providing stretching career development opportunities.
This is an important and exciting role within a high-profile, independent non-departmental public body.
The Policy and Operations Team sits at the heart of the Commission’s work with commissioners, departments and senior leaders. You will have a key role helping to develop policy, deliver departmental audits and uphold the requirements set out in the Recruitment Principles.
Key responsibilities:
* Playing a key role within the team’s compliance function to deliver audits across departments. This will include reviewing evidence, drafting documents, attending audit meetings, and contributing to the final audit reports and audit moderation meetings.
* Contributing to projects and reviews on ways of working to evolve audits in 2025 and beyond.
* Contributing to the wider team’s delivery of other compliance functions, and providing expert advice in response to department queries.
* Supporting the delivery of bespoke outreach, including Recruitment Principles training, to departments.
* Supporting the team to deliver ambitious strategic objectives for the CSC, and helping to deliver key elements of this plan.
* Supporting the wider team to review and respond to complaints and exception requests.
