Libertatem Healthcare are seeking to recruit Experienced Spinal Injury Support Workers to work with our spinal injury client in Llandudno.
Hours:
12hr shifts from Monday-Sunday
Days - 8am-8pm
Waking nights - 8pm - 8am
The successful candidates must be flexible and able to cover all shift patterns on a planned rota basis. The client cannot be left alone; therefore, covering colleagues' annual leave and absences is required.
Responsibilities:
Duties include personal care, household chores, social activities, accompanying the client on holidays, facilitating rehab goals, following the client’s direction, and driving a wheelchair accessible van as needed.
Main Tasks and Duties:
1. Supporting independence and continued rehabilitation.
2. Providing personalised support in a sensitive and confidential manner, to individuals and families according to their personalised support plan.
3. Understanding and following care plans, seeking clarification from the healthcare coordinator or clinical lead nurse as necessary.
4. Participating in monitoring and review of Service Users’ care plans.
5. Working in a professional manner with all members of the Service User’s multidisciplinary team and other health professionals involved.
6. Promoting self-care and self-management to achieve a maximum level of independence for each individual.
7. Assisting with Service Users’ mobility, feeding, washing, bathing, and dressing.
8. Managing neurogenic bladder and bowel care as defined in the care and support plan.
9. Assisting with domestic care tasks such as laundry, ironing, and household cleaning.
10. Preparing food and drinks, kitchen cleaning and hygiene, and assisting with shopping and menu planning.
11. Assisting Service Users to attend appointments, go shopping, and collect pensions.
12. Providing emotional support to increase the Service Users’ confidence and motivation.
13. Assisting with the use of moving and handling equipment to promote independence and ensure safety.
14. Monitoring skin integrity and ensuring any changes are noted and raised with clinical lead.
15. Administering medication as designated in the care and support plan in accordance with company policies and procedures.
16. Assisting Service Users with rehabilitation activities as directed by the care and support plan.
17. Monitoring Service User’s general health and well-being and responding to changes as directed in the care and support plan.
18. Delivering support in a manner sensitive to the Service User’s culture, disability, race, age, sexuality, marital or civil partnership status, transgender status, or religion/belief.
19. Documenting clearly in the daily records on the progress of rehabilitation programmes.
Training & Background Checks:
An enhanced DBS check & full training will be provided prior to commencing work with our client, and you will also be supported by our clinical lead nurse for the area.
Weekly Pay:
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in support work while working alongside experienced therapists and professionals.
