We are seeking passionate and dedicated SEND tutors to support students with special educational needs across Birmingham, Solihull, and the wider West Midlands region.
We offer flexible tutoring opportunities, both in-person and online, tailored to fit your expertise and schedule.
If you are committed to delivering high-quality, personalised education, we would be delighted to hear from you!
Role
As a SEND Tutor, you will work one-on-one with students, offering personalised educational support tailored to their specific needs. You will support students with a wide range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and mental health challenges such as anxiety or depression.
Most sessions take place in the student's home, though they may also occur in schools or local community settings. You'll have flexibility in arranging your schedule to suit both you and your students. Your role will involve planning bespoke lessons, tracking student progress, and collaborating with parents or carers to ensure success.
Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored tuition in core subjects such as Maths and English to students with SEND.
- Create and implement personalised lesson plans aligned with students' EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
- Use creative and interactive teaching methods to engage students and meet their unique learning needs.
- Monitor and report on student progress, providing regular updates to parents and carers.
- Build a positive, supportive learning environment to promote confidence and self-esteem.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other education professionals involved in student support.
- Ensure safeguarding practices are followed, maintaining the safety and well-being of all students.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety).
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage students and their families.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive learning.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), though this is only essential for some roles.
- Familiarity with EHCPs and experience in tailoring lessons to meet specific requirements.
- Experience with behaviour management and supporting students with emotional regulation.
- Knowledge of online learning platforms (e.g., Pencil Spaces) for remote tutoring roles.
- Previous collaboration with SENCOs, therapists, or other education professionals.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly rates (£30-£45, depending on experience and qualifications).
- Flexible working arrangements to fit your schedule (daytime, evenings, weekends).
- Opportunities to tutor online or in-person, with travel costs covered where applicable.
- Access to professional development, including training in SEND strategies and safeguarding.
- A supportive and inclusive work environment prioritising well-being.
