We are looking for highly motivated and experienced MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our ALEMCO team in the UAE.
Position Overview:
Working within an MEP subcontractor company, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the commercial and financial side of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects. This includes estimating, budgeting, cost control, contract administration, and ensuring that all projects are completed within budget, on time, and to the highest standards.
* You will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, analyzing project tenders, managing variations, and providing financial advice to ensure the profitability of the projects. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure all commercial matters are properly handled.
Responsibilities:
* Cost Estimating and Budgeting:
Prepare and analyze detailed MEP cost estimates for various types of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) based on project specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
Develop and manage budgets for MEP projects and ensure that costs remain within the agreed budget.
* Tendering and Procurement:
Support the tender process by reviewing drawings, specifications, and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns for tender submissions.
Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors for quotations and procurement of materials and services.
* Contract Administration:
Administer contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions, ensuring compliance, and managing any contract variations.
Negotiate terms and agreements with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
Monitor and control project expenditure, ensuring that work is completed within agreed costs.
* Variation Management:
Manage and document all variations, ensuring that they are accurately priced and processed.
Negotiate and agree on prices for variations and prepare associated documentation for client approval.
* Cost Control and Reporting:
Monitor project costs and track any deviations from the original budget.
Prepare and submit regular cost reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
Provide advice on cost-effective solutions to manage project costs and enhance profitability.
* Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and advise the project team on measures to mitigate or eliminate them.
Review and assess risks related to MEP systems and advise on the most cost-effective solutions.
* Site Visits and Coordination:
Attend site meetings and visits to ensure that work is progressing in line with the budget.
Coordinate with site managers and engineers to ensure that cost implications of site changes or delays are considered.
* Final Account Preparation:
Prepare final accounts for completed projects, ensuring all costs are accurately recorded and justified.
Liaise with clients and project teams to ensure the final account is agreed upon and closed.
Requirements:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
* Professional qualifications (e.g., MRICS, RICS) are desirable but not mandatory.
* A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the MEP industry (preferably within an MEP subcontracting environment).
* Strong experience with MEP systems, contracts, and industry-specific terminology.
* Proven experience in managing budgets and cost control on large-scale construction projects.
