As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will provide targeted support to students, helping them develop positive coping strategies, regulate their emotions, and engage effectively in the classroom. Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will play a key role in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Worker: Support students in managing their behaviour and emotional well-being. Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs. Work with teachers to create an engaging and supportive classroom atmosphere. Provide one-to-one and small group support to students requiring additional guidance. Help students develop social skills and build positive relationships with peers. Monitor and record student progress, reporting to relevant staff members. Offer de-escalation and crisis intervention support when necessary. Encourage students to engage with their learning and build self-confidence. Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student development. Promote a safe and inclusive school environment. What we need in a Behaviour Support Worker: Previous experience working with students displaying challenging behaviour as a Behaviour Support Worker. Understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies. A background in psychology, youth work, education, or related fields is desirable. A compassionate and patient approach to working with young people. Strong communication and teamwork skills. The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
