Job Description
Taylor Woodrow, a leading infrastructure and civil engineering contractor, is seeking a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team supporting a long-term framework with National Highways. This is a great opportunity to work across a variety of key infrastructure schemes, contributing to projects from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) through to delivery and close-out.
About the Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will take a commercial lead across multiple live projects (typically up to £1 million in value), ensuring commercial governance, effective cost control, and value delivery. You’ll work closely with operational and design teams to manage budgets, assess risk, and maintain a strong commercial position throughout the project lifecycle.
This role also provides an opportunity to contribute to the ECI phase—helping to shape contract strategies, procurement routes, and pricing models.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage all commercial aspects of assigned projects, including cost planning, forecasting, and budget control
* Administer subcontracts, including procurement, valuations, payments, and change management
* Liaise with clients, supply chain, and internal teams to ensure commercial alignment and accurate reporting
* Monitor project risks and support mitigation planning from a commercial standpoint
* Prepare and review monthly cost reports, CVRs, and applications for payment
* Contribute to tender and pricing submissions during ECI and pre-construction phases
* Ensure compliance with contract terms and commercial best practices
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within civil engineering or highways projects
* Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (particularly NEC3/NEC4)
* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
* Ability to manage multiple small to mid-sized projects simultaneously
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ideally degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field, or equivalent experience
