About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Children’s Joint Commissioning Team as a Senior Commissioner. As a key member of our team, this role will lead a range of complex programmes and individual projects that support the commissioning of services for children, young people and their families within Hounslow, including a significant capital programme to increase local, borough-based placement options for Looked after Children.
The successful candidate will have significant experience and expertise in project management, change and transformation, an in-depth understanding of the commissioning cycle including procurement, and the ability to manage a range of stakeholders. The role will have responsibility for corporate projects and be accountable for the delivery of key project milestones, risk management and to keep senior management informed of progress, escalating issues where necessary.
In addition to this, the role will support the wider Business Change team, providing oversight and support to ensure project outcomes are delivered and milestones met. The successful candidate will be confident providing effective challenge, be organised, have excellent communication skills and an understanding of local government processes, ideally with a focus on Health and Social Care priorities.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
Hounslow’s Children’s Joint Commissioning Team has a wide remit with responsibility for ensuring a wide range of health and social care services are delivered to a high standard and offer value for money. The team works in partnership with the Northwest London Integrated Care System, multiple Local Authority Service areas and external partners and providers.
This post will support the team across a range of different work areas to deliver elements of the Council’s Corporate Plan and the One Hounslow Children and Young Peoples Plan. The postholder will play a key role across Hounslow’s Joint Commissioning Team, supporting priorities and delivering change. The role will provide oversight for a range of work areas, operating in both a strategic and operational capacity.
About You
* You have significant knowledge and experience of developing and delivering a variety of complex projects in a public sector setting.
* You have a collaborative problem-solving approach, are able to operate effectively through prioritisation, delegation of tasks and organisation of available resources.
* You communicate effectively with a range of audiences, including elected members, colleagues of all levels of seniority; you will have used this to engage with stakeholders and ensure their needs are met.
* You are committed to the public service ethos and putting residents first; but can balance this with an emotional resilience and commercial awareness, to operate efficiently in an austere financial environment.
* You will bring demonstrable experience and skills in leading and managing multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver improved and positive service outcomes for service users.
