A rare opportunity has arisen to join our senior team as the maternity cover for one of the Principal Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists (must be ACP accredited) at our dynamic adolescent service where psychoanalytic psychotherapy remains the core profession. Alongside two other Principal Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, the successful applicant will be a key part of the Senior Clinical Management Team under our Director, responsible for supervision of therapists and service development, alongside a clinical caseload. This is a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract, with possibility of extension; some hours must be worked 4-7pm; it is a full-time role but part-time/job share will be considered. We are looking for an organised, energetic and flexible Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with experience of working in a multi-disciplinary service, including substantial experience with the relevant client age group, as well as experience in the process of assessment of risk and clinical need. Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience as well as experience of providing clinical supervision of adolescent work to Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists and other mental health professionals. Main duties of the job To provide leadership, clinical and line management supervision to Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists, including those accredited by the ACP as qualified and trainee members, clinicians from other disciplines, non-clinical staff and volunteers, as agreed with the Director. To develop the clinical offer at Open Door and aid service development, in line with service needs and opportunities and in consultation with the Director. To help oversee and monitor the delivery and impact of the clinical service To provide an efficient, effective and highly specialist adolescent and young adult psychodynamic psychotherapy assessment and treatment service for young people and their parents or carers. To make complex clinical judgements and decisions, with the assistance of colleagues and managers, about risk factors and ensure that links are established with other agencies, particularly those in the statutory sector, to reduce risks and share responsibility within mental health networks. To participate in multi-agency meetings. To act as case manager on complex cases as appropriate. To participate and contribute to intake processes, oversight and risk management as needed and in agreement with the Director. To provide guidance and support for colleagues in team meetings and in difficult or emergency situations. To provide, when opportunities arise, consultation, training and advice for staff working in other specialist settings. About us Open Door is an NCL ICB commissioned voluntary sector service based in Haringey, North London, providing a range of therapeutic services for young people aged 12-24 and parents/carers. We form part of the Haringey CAMHS pathway for 12-18-year-olds and are a highly regarded clinical service. Open Door recently received national recognition for our impact, as a 2024 finalist for Health Service Journal (HSJ) Award for Reducing Inequality and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People. Open Door offers treatment to adolescents and young adults on a brief, medium and longer-term basis. While psychoanalytic Child Psychotherapy remains our lead and core profession, we also offer CBT, drama therapy, therapeutic football groups and EMDR. We currently have 11 Child Psychotherapists and 2 Child Psychotherapy trainees in the team. We are a highly skilled team and many of our clinicians teach on professional trainings. Clinical supervision is provided weekly. Open Door works from bases in Crouch End and Tottenham, and provides services in local secondary schools and the Haringey Autism Hub.
