Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Band 6 Neonatal Nurse on our busy Level 2 Unit. Full or part time hours would be considered.
The 28 cot unit consists of 12 ITU/HDU, 16 Special Care and 4 Transitional Care cots. The unit has a collaborative approach to care with good working relationships within the multi-disciplinary team and is housed in a modern purpose-built Women's Centre with excellent facilities for both staff and families. We practice Family Integrated Care and have special interest groups for Infant Feeding, Developmental Care and Palliative Care.
Main duties of the job
As an experienced member of the neonatal team, you will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to babies and their families. You will need to have a relevant neonatal qualification and recent experience. Leadership experience would be useful but not essential as full support and training will be given.
Job responsibilities
Main responsibilities of the role include:
* To act as advocate for the neonate.
* To manage and professionally lead the nursing team in the clinical area in the absence of the senior nurse and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
* To deliver and supervise patient care for the clinical area ensuring assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a high standard of nursing care.
* To manage a caseload of patients within the defined clinical area, whilst offering guidance to junior medical staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Experience
* RN Child Branch, RSCN, RN/RGN with relevant experience.
* Neonatal Qualification in Speciality with appropriate post qualification experience.
* Training and experience in Child Protection.
* Newborn Life Support certification.
* Teaching qualification.
* Evidence of practice development/service improvement.
* Evidence of contribution to policy/protocol/guideline development.
