We have an exciting opportunity for you to apply for a Ward Manager position at Yeovil District Hospital. We are looking for a motivated and inspirational band 7 for our acute medical ward specialising in Stroke care, Ward 8B.
As the Ward manager you will be responsible for leading a dynamic nursing team, working alongside a multidisciplinary team providing patient centred care, supporting best practice tariffs and providing assurance of high-quality standards. There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly over a rota basis which will include late shifts and weekends as part of the senior nurse rota. You will require good communication skills, a teamwork approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team.

Main duties of the job
As Ward manager you will be leading and coordinating the clinical, managerial and educational requirements of your clinical area, ensuring staff are up to date with statutory training and career conversations and providing development opportunities.
Maintaining and monitoring standards of care that ensure patient safety and a high quality of patient centred care through audit and governance. This will include learning from incidents and complaints and adopting a PSIRF approach to resolutions.
Being visible and role modelling, providing direct patient care and being involved in patient engagement rounds.
Working to agreed KPIs, participating in Quality Improvement and leading on change.
Be part of the Senior Nurse rota for daily staffing across the service group and a late shift and weekend rota that provides senior support to the wards during out of hours.
