37 Monday – Thursday, 08:30 - 16:30
This opening assignment is for 9 months

Enhanced DBS disclosure required
Specialist SEN tutor to deliver a variety of Personal Development programmes at Entry 1 to Level 1. The ability to deliver Functional skills to 16 - 24 yrs SEN learners, differentiate between learner needs and identify when resources and delivery need adapting to suit these needs and encourage learners to fulfil their potential
A fundamental level of IT skills to include basic Microsoft packages to support communication, delivery and planning.
Key responsibilities:
Teach or facilitate courses and programmes to awarding bodies, funding bodies and contractual requirements which may include accredited and non- accredited provision and which take place in a variety of centre and community based settings.
Support learners, in their learning including undertaking initial, formative and summative assessment, developing personalised materials or strategies where appropriate and advising on progression into other forms of learning and training.
Undertake and lead curriculum development, including the preparation of learning materials and the design and development of monitoring and assessment tools.
Lase with other agencies supporting learning provision in relation to the recruitment and referral of learners and where appropriate, assist directly in the recruitment and enrolment of learners.
Contribute to the administration of learning programmes including fee collection and the completion and return of course data.
Support quality monitoring and improvement through participating in observation of teaching and learning, the analysis of performance data, service wide self-assessment and inspection.
Undertake leadership of a course or curriculum/subject area, including offering curriculum support, guidance and where appropriate, training to other staff
Participate in and where appropriate lead Staff Development opportunities to increase good practice and meet the quality requirements of the service, funding agencies and awarding bodies.
Participate in the city council’s performance management and appraisal systems, including the appraisal of others.
Offer peer/mentoring support to associate tutors and line-manage associate tutors as appropriate
Qualifications:
Fully qualified and experienced tutor in the Lifelong Learning and Skills Sector with a recognised teaching qualification
Functional Skills English and Maths, GCSE English and Maths: as above plus appropriate Skills for Life teaching qualifications (Level 5 Subject Specialism).
Knowledge:
Understanding of appropriate teaching and learning methods for learners and trainees including planning, review and assessment procedures appropriate for the provision to be delivered
Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the teaching environment
Experience:
Experience in working within a benefits environment with experience of assessing benefit entitlement
Experience in delivery tutorial, work related learning and enrichment activities, and leading groups of around 6 - 14 learners, out in the community.
Skills & Abilities:
Effective communication skills
Ability to keep accurate records of learner or trainee attendance and achievement and report on these as required by the service, funding agencies and awarding bodies
Able to review and evaluate own performance against service standards and targets
