Company Overview:
My client is a well-established contractor specializing in housing and housing infrastructure projects in Bristol. They are seeking an experienced and qualified SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) to join their team and help set up and guide the company's health and safety systems. This is a newly created role, offering the chance to make a significant impact on the business by establishing robust SHEQ practices.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Develop and Implement Systems: Set up, manage, and continually improve the company’s SHEQ management systems.
2. Health and Safety Leadership: Provide expert guidance on all health and safety-related matters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
3. Communication: Effectively communicate SHEQ processes with both office staff and site-based construction workers, ensuring everyone understands and follows the set guidelines.
4. Risk Assessments: Carry out risk assessments and method statements, ensuring they are up-to-date and relevant to the ongoing projects.
5. Incident Management: Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence.
6. Training: Deliver or arrange relevant training for employees, ensuring they are competent in health and safety requirements.
7. Monitor Compliance: Conduct site inspections and audits, ensuring that health and safety standards are maintained and quality controls are in place.
8. Liaise with Stakeholders: Work closely with clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure that SHEQ standards are met across all housing and infrastructure projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Qualified in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar qualification is essential).
2. Experience in construction, ideally in housing or housing infrastructure.
3. Proven track record in setting up and managing SHEQ systems.
4. Strong communication skills with the ability to work alongside and guide construction workers and site staff.
5. Self-motivated, serious, and passionate about maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
