Are you interested in working on improving outcomes within economic growth, employment, equality, diversity and inclusion, finance, and digital markets? If so, we want to hear from you.
The hiring team will make the decision whether to appoint at the Associate Advisor or Advisor level based on the candidate’s experience.
What does an Advisor or Associate Advisor at BIT do?
We are recruiting for an Associate Advisor or Advisor in our Economic Policy team. The team’s work focuses on the areas of Employment & Equalities, Financial Behaviour & Gambling Harms, and Consumers & Business. The successful candidate will be placed either in the Employment & Equalities or Financial Behaviour & Gambling Harms sub-team, depending on candidate expertise and business needs.
Our clients comprise the public sector (central and local government, as well as other public bodies such as regulators), private sector (financial institutions, consumer goods and services, large employers, industry bodies) and third sector (charities, think-tanks and professional associations). Social impact guides our engagement in everything we do – from being thought-leaders to designing interventions at the micro and macro levels.
As an Associate Advisor/ Advisor, you will:
* Play a fundamental role in delivering projects across the different policy areas covered by the team. You will work closely with BIT’s clients and partners, delivering project components such as exploratory research, rapid literature reviews and development of behavioural solutions. As an Advisor, you may be responsible for delivering the main outputs of projects, with support from your colleagues, and presenting results to our stakeholders.
* Report to and work closely with Senior and Principal Advisors who oversee different projects. Together, you will plan and deliver projects and assess how best to respond to occasional changes to project plans.
* Occasionally contribute to proposals and other business development opportunities.
Although the role focuses on Economic Policy, we expect all of our staff to work flexibly across the organisation.
What makes a great (Associate) Advisor at BIT?
We are looking for people who understand what we do, share our values and are keen to learn and develop their expertise. We are looking for candidates with the experience and skills across the areas listed below. We expect to provide training and development support in some of the areas:
* Interest in the areas of work covered by the Economic Policy team. You don’t have to have previous experience in the economic policy areas covered, but you should have experience applying your skills across different contexts and you can demonstrate ability to grasp new subject areas quickly. You are also willing to work across different topics.
* Behavioural science. You understand key behavioural science concepts and can contribute to designing interventions – ranging from communication to changes in organisational practices. You have a foundational understanding of experimental research and statistical reasoning: you know that just because sales of sunglasses and ice creams increase at the same time, one does not cause the other. You can also describe how to run a test to show this. For the Advisor level, you additionally have experience applying behavioural science concepts in real-world settings and can design and implement behaviour change interventions.
* Managing projects and clients. You can manage your own time effectively to produce high quality work within agreed timeframes and work collaboratively with colleagues. For the Advisor level, you additionally can demonstrate examples of delivering quality work within deadlines and managing stakeholder expectations. You have experience coordinating work with colleagues and supporting other team members.
* Clear and convincing communications. You can explain complex topics in simple terms. You can co-lead a workshop or presentation and write clearly and concisely.
* Managing and developing yourself at work. You demonstrate high self-awareness and regularly self-reflect. You are aware of the impact that your actions and words have on those around you. You are resilient and accept responsibility for decisions whether they achieve the desired outcome or not.
