The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities: Collaborate with management and consultant colleagues to develop the stroke medicine service. Support sub-acute rehabilitation for stroke patients in community hospitals and settings. Provide TIA service at RBH. Ensure ongoing clinical responsibility for patients, coordinating with colleagues in medicine for older people. Contribute to consultant cover during leave. Develop and promote services that minimize hospital stay and promote recovery and independent living. Participate in medical audit and maintain clinical governance. Provide professional supervision, direction, and training to junior medical staff. Engage in postgraduate teaching activities. Attend meetings of the Directorate of Medicine for Older People, Rehabilitation, and Stroke. Be an integral part of the MDT on acute and rehabilitation stroke units. Participate in the Hot Consultant acute stroke rota (1 in 6 weekdays 8 am to 6.00 pm). Contribute to the Lancashire and Cumbria Telestroke rota (1 in 1).
