Main duties of the job
If you are a highly skilled and motivated Dosimetrist with strong technical expertise in radiotherapy planning, excellent organizational skills, and a collaborative team spirit, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our radiotherapy planning team.
In this role, you will manage a team of dosimetrists, support treatment planning, participate in equipment commissioning, lead projects, and mentor and train staff.

Job responsibilities
Working at UHS, you will join a friendly and dynamic team of Scientists, Dosimetrists, and Engineers in the Radiotherapy Physics Group.
Our department operates 7 linear accelerators across two sites, supported by Pinnacle and ELEMENTs TPS, to deliver a comprehensive radiotherapy service. Our active Scientific Computing group drives innovative solutions to introduce automated workflows. We are the only centre in the UK offering Intra-Operative Radiotherapy with an Electron Accelerator and provide physics services for breast Intra-Operative Radiotherapy.
Our upcoming major project is the commissioning and implementation of a new treatment planning system, presenting an excellent opportunity for you to contribute throughout the process.
Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of oncologists, radiographers, dosimetrists and clinical scientists, you will: Provide specialist advice and support on treatment planning and dosimetry. Develop and check complex radiotherapy treatment plans using state-of-the-art planning systems. Participate in the commissioning and quality assurance of new equipment and techniques. Lead on advanced projects to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes. Support the training and mentoring of junior staff and students.
What We're Looking For
* BSc in Clinical Technology or related discipline or BSc Therapy Radiography, with HCPC or RCT registration.
* MSc in Therapeutic Radiography or relevant Science based subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
* Extensive experience in radiotherapy treatment planning and dosimetry at an advanced level.
* Proficiency with modern treatment planning systems (e.g., Pinnacle, Eclipse, RayStation) and techniques such as IMRT, VMAT, and stereotactic radiotherapy.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and team-working abilities.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* BSc in Clinical Technology or related discipline or BSc Therapy Radiography
* On register of clinical technologists (RCT), HCPC registered therapy radiographer or equivalent level of competence.
* MSc in Therapeutic Radiography or relevant Science based subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience including highly specialist knowledge of radiation interactions and advanced use of radiotherapy treatment planning.
* Able to demonstrate significant experience & competence in complex radiotherapy treatment planning.
* Experience of training others.
* Experience of post master's specialist training gained through in house training and attendance at external courses enabling in depth knowledge of radiotherapy /treatment planning/mould room and radiation dosimetry applied to radiotherapy treatment.
* Experience of people management.
* Specialist knowledge of CT and MR anatomy.
* Able to show a knowledge of current legislation related to radiotherapy.
* Able to show a knowledge of up-to-date trends in radiotherapy practice.
* Incorporated level membership of IPEM.
* Practical Mould room experience.
