Laboratory Technician - Foundry Industry
Our client based in Lye has a need for a Laboratory Technician on a temporary to permanent basis.
Job Description:
Sand testing - provide technical data through laboratory testing of moulding sand used on the production line to provide quality assurance that all the moulds will produce the desired casting quality.
Essential Requirements:

4. Ability to review data and make the correct decisions using the collected data
5. Computer literate
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Sand Lab Testing - Complete all hourly sand checks on both backing and facing sand (Compactability, green strength, Permeability, moisture, Mould hardness, Wet Tensile + sand temperature).
2. Record results on computer.
3. Contribute to testing of metal by providing temperature recordings of 1st and last moulds casting temperatures, whilst monitoring pour speeds.
4. Assist with Core machine calibration of all core machines monthly or when required.
5. Work safely with equipment and wear the correct PPE at all times.
6. Understand written instructions and comply with company processes and procedures.
7. Follow and adhere to manual handling and lifting guidance.
8. Maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness of working areas.
9. Safe handling of waste and spillages.
10. Work on own initiative.
11. Follow pre-use checks and shutdown processes.
12. Maintain equipment in safe working condition.
13. Report concerns directly related to casting quality.
14. Assist team members to complete daily tasks.
15. Report concerns about equipment in poor condition.
16. Maintain tool cleaning and storage procedures.
17. Promote ideas to optimise productivity and manufacturing output.
18. Participate and feedback concerns with design and development of cast products, materials, testing, and process studies.
19. Ensure work is inspected according to company procedures and customer requirements.
20. Follow and read work instructions, standards, and care points carefully.
21. Report concerns which relate to increased processing time and reduced output.
22. Communicate with team members and supervision to ensure the area is working efficiently.
23. Report concerns with raw materials used within the process.

Advantageous Skills:
1. Fork-lift licence
