Staff Nurse, Band 5, A&E, Cumberland Infirmary
We are pleased to be able to advertise this fantastic opportunity to join the Emergency Department at CIC. We pride ourselves on the training and development of our staff. Currently, the department is going through a lot of exciting changes which is providing opportunities for career development and progression.
On appointment, we offer a supernumerary period, departmental induction, and an allocated preceptor and preceptorship. We welcome applications from both experienced and newly qualified nurses.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and provide all aspects of patient care.
2. Act in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.
3. Assist other nurses in the team as necessary.
4. Demonstrate practice based on current advances in nursing practice and research.
5. Comply with infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
6. Comply with responsibility to safeguard adults and children, ensuring attendance at appropriate training.
7. Take personal responsibility for putting the person receiving care first, and to challenge poor care/practice, doing so as soon as any shortcomings are seen.
8. Maintain accurate records of the care given, ensuring accurate data input into computerized systems.
9. Assist in developing an environment that supports the value of nursing care.
10. Liaise and communicate with members of the nursing and multidisciplinary team.
11. Participate in the monitoring of standards of care.
12. Contribute to the continuing development of the unit philosophy.
13. Participate in the Trust clinical governance agenda, leading on a benchmark from the Essence of Care initiative.
14. Ensure that the Trust policies and guidelines relevant to the unit are given due consideration.
15. Have regard for budgetary implications of decisions.
16. Actively participate in the Trust risk management strategy.
17. Contribute to the Trust patient care and public involvement strategy.
18. Participate in local bed management for appropriate patient care.
