The surveyor’s role is to progress repairs on disrepair claims through to completion in properties across the borough. To review expert reports and disrepair letters of claim, carry out pre work surveys and use SOR codes to create job specifications for the works to be carried out by the Council’s operatives and contractors. To ensure an effective surveying service is provided for Housing Assets in several key areas in accordance with specifications, procedures and legislation, which include but is not exclusive to the following providing expert specialist Disrepair Surveyor leadership, management, support and advice across the department, ensuring that reported issues in properties are inspected, managed and maintained in accordance with Housing Health and Safety Rating System (England) Regulations 2005 and any other appropriate Health and Safety legislation. Provision of surveying services including the delivery of works and services programmes and projects to time, cost and quality. Undertake physical pre-inspections of council stock in tenanted and communal locations. Identification and accurate diagnosis of complex repairs for occupied and from time-to-time void properties, ensuring all works are completed in a timely and effective manner to prevent unnecessary financial loss to the council in disrepair claims. Work closely with the Council’s Legal Team and other colleagues in responding to and dealing with disrepair claims, undertake inspections and write specifications relating to new disrepair claims under Section 11 and Environmental Protection Act claims (EPAs). Raise orders, liaise with contractors, and carry out pre/post work inspections to ensure a high standard of works. Provide support and monitor contractor’s delivery of specified solutions
