The role We’re looking for a food-loving Front-End JavaScript developer to work closely with Declan, our Senior Developer. You’ll work closely with our marketing team, ops team and founders to forge growth through improving user experience, adding new features and automating our workflows where possible. You’ll be the second in-house developer on the team, with access to and support from our current development partner, an award-winning development and product studio based nearby. One of your initial projects would involve launching a new caterer review system that’ll help our customers make the right choice of caterer. We’re looking for someone with around 1.5 years commercial development experience, and if you have any product design or graphic design experience, that is a real plus. For the right person, there are share options and scope for this role to evolve as the company grows. We care far more about attitude, ideas, and intelligence than experience, but ideally, you’ll: Be familiar with agile development process and sprints Up to date with JavaScript, including ES6 features, modern frameworks, and industry best practices Not be afraid of a challenge or challenging the status quo Be familiar with CSS best practices and modern methodologies including BEM, SMACSS, ITCSS Be passionate about food and drink (we spend most of our day talking about both) Have the necessary permissions to work in the UK (required – we are not able to sponsor visas) Technically, we are looking for someone who: Has commercial experience with at least one front-end framework: React, Ember, Angular Is familiar with build tools including Webpack, Babel, gulp, ember-cli Is comfortable working with a RESTful API Has used CSS Preprocessors (SASS preferred) Familiarity with version control software (Git) Has past experience with design Is interested but not necessarily has experience with other technologies in our stack, including Docker, Node, Express, ElasticSearch, Sequelize Benefits Free coffee, beer, pizza, pretzels etc. We’re a one minute walk from Aldgate East, surrounded by a host of amazing delis, bars and restaurants in Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Shoreditch.
