Job Title: Site Manager
Location: Stockport and surrounding areas
Salary: Up to £52,000 per annum
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Manager to join a well-established civil engineering contractor. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple sites within the Stockport locality, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Organising and managing 3 to 6 sites of varying value.
2. Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to coordinate works and ensure smooth project progression.
3. Working closely with the Contract Manager and Business Manager to plan and programme complex contract works.
4. Managing labour, plant, and materials, ensuring efficiency and progress.
5. Calling off materials and assisting the commercial team with schedules for placing orders.
6. Ensuring all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including preparing Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
7. Maintaining a safe, tidy, and well-managed site, ensuring compliance with all company and industry standards.
8. Keeping detailed site records, including daily diaries and photographic evidence.
9. Managing site inductions and ensuring staff, subcontractors, and operatives understand and follow safe working practices.
10. Overseeing the Permit to Dig system.
11. Reporting any damage, accidents, or near misses to Head Office.
12. Liaising with local authorities, the public, and businesses as required.
13. Assisting the QS and Contracts Manager with financial reporting, claims, and measures.
14. Attending meetings, training sessions, and management briefings as required.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
1. Experience in a supervisory role within civil engineering.
2. Strong people management and communication skills.
3. Full UK Driving Licence.
4. CSCS / NRSWA / SMSTS (or similar) qualifications.
5. Experience in cost management and financial reporting.
6. Ability to meet deadlines with a high level of accuracy and good record-keeping.
7. Highly motivated team player with a proactive approach.
Desirable:
1. Working knowledge of MS Project, Word, and Excel.
2. Experience in Local Authority highway projects.
3. Confined Spaces qualification.
4. Ability to manage multiple smaller sites simultaneously.
5. Some Quantity Surveying experience.
6. IOSH certification.
