Carmichael are currently seeking a Piling Engineer to work on a short-term contract on a major infrastructure project in Birmingham. This role is to start asap.
Key Responsibilities:
Piling Design & Analysis:
Work with geotechnical engineers to assess soil conditions and determine appropriate piling solutions.
Design various types of piling systems
Conduct load calculations, soil testing, and pile integrity tests to ensure structural safety.
Project Planning & Coordination:
Develop detailed piling plans, including equipment needs, timelines, and resource allocation.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss project scope and deliverables.
Manage permits and regulatory approvals for piling activities.
On-site Supervision:
Oversee the execution of piling works on-site, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and safety protocols.
Troubleshoot any technical or operational issues that arise during the piling process.
Conduct site inspections to monitor pile driving, alignment, and depth control.
Quality Control & Documentation:
Perform quality checks on piling materials and construction practices to meet industry standards.
Maintain accurate documentation of pile tests, reports, and certifications.
Ensure that all piling work adheres to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
Promote a safety culture on-site by ensuring all workers are trained and aware of piling risks.
Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Address potential environmental impacts such as noise, vibration, and ground settlement.
Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
