An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment to be part of a team delivering a pilot project of care closer to home for paediatric haematology/oncology patients.
We are looking to employ a motivated band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, who is keen to join our team delivering high class care for children and young people affected by cancer and haematology conditions. The post is a full-time fixed term position; however, a secondment would be considered. This will involve providing chemotherapy and supportive care within the community setting.
Applicants should have relevant experience in caring for children and young people with cancer and other haematological conditions.
The successful applicant will be supported through a structured development approach.

Responsibilities
1. Manage a defined caseload and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care closer to home.
2. Achieve a high standard of nursing care and demonstrate through practice the desired role model to guide all grades of nursing staff.
3. Promote an environment suitable for the care of children with haematology/oncology conditions.
4. Promote evidence-based nursing practice.
5. Contribute to the provision of an effective management unit by ensuring the needs of the patients, staff, and visitors are met.
Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is a provider of specialist health care to over 275,000 children and young people each year.
