About us Avencia Consulting are recruiting on behalf of a leading Reinsurer based in the City, who are looking for an Underwriting Governance Analyst to join on a 12 month contract basis. This role would be suitable for someone working in a similar capacity, governance, controls or in audit. The role This position is a collaborative role providing key oversight and support to the Underwriting function as part of the Underwriting Governance and Excellence team. The Underwriting Governance Analyst will oversee and manage processes within the Underwriting Governance and Excellence team. Key accountabilities Participate in the underwriting process, evaluation and presentation of submissions, analysing and interpreting exposures, determining coverage and contract language Assist and work with risk modeling and pricing tools Originate, leverage, build and maintain broker and client relationships Monitor market developments and remain current regarding knowledge of all relevant classes of business, and legislated and regulatory changes / requirements Ensure accuracy and integrity of underwriting data in group underwriting systems Prepare and issue quotes on an accurate and timely basis Supervising and/or mentoring junior members of the team Ensure compliance with internal and external underwriting regulations, liaising as appropriate with external bodies such as brokers, clients, auditors and regulators as required Assist with strategic initiatives as needed to promote business growthSkills & experience At least 3 years experience in a controls, governance or audit role Knowledge of insurance processes and underwriting practices in the Lloyd's and/or Company markets Strong interpersonal skills in order to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups at all levels across the business Excellent Excel and Power BI skills, together with competency in other MS Office applications (Word, Outlook and Adobe Standard) required Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage difficult conversations A practical understanding of Underwriting systems. Ability to comprehend new concepts quickly and take initiative with own personal development. Ability to self-lead and work effectively both independently and with teams. Ability to deliver and manage accurate thoughtful detail-oriented work within tight deadlines. Demonstrable experience of working in fast paced environments with the ability to problem solve and react quickly to changing priorities
