The Role Ricardo is seeking a skilled Principal Consultant, Rail Industry Cyber Security to provide expert technical leadership within the cybersecurity domain. The successful candidate will bring deep technical knowledge and strategic vision to enhance Ricardo’s cybersecurity capabilities, ensuring quality delivery and continuous improvement across client engagements. This role will drive innovation, oversee project success, and play an active role in both technical mentoring and business development. Key Responsibilities Provide cybersecurity technical leadership across projects and initiatives. Review and approve critical technical decisions, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity standards. Validate the work of colleagues, offering constructive feedback to promote growth. Mentor team members in cybersecurity, sharing knowledge and skills. Knowledge and Professional Development Apply advanced cybersecurity knowledge to assess and analyse information per standards and procedures. Continuously engage in professional development to expand expertise. Lead skills development efforts within the team, fostering a learning culture. Project Delivery Ensure successful project execution within timelines and quality benchmarks. Design and implement innovative cybersecurity tools and techniques tailored to client needs. Develop new technical solutions and adopt industry best practices. Bid Development Contribute technical insights, methodologies, and resource estimates to client tenders. Support unique client solutions by providing innovative technical input. Sales and Business Development Identify new business development opportunities within and beyond the rail industry. Prepare and deliver sales-focused technical presentations. Support technical sales meetings and promote Ricardo's technical capabilities across sectors. Project Management Oversee cybersecurity project tasks, managing timelines, budgets, and team supervision to ensure client satisfaction. Communicate workload and project progress with line and project managers, balancing tasks effectively. Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement Ensure all client engagements are positive and focused on enhancing cybersecurity service delivery. Continuously seek ways to improve service quality. Coaching and Mentorship Mentor colleagues in cybersecurity practices and ensure alignment with company procedures. Seek out and share innovative technical ideas within the team and across the organisation. Key Competencies and Experience Extensive experience in cybersecurity, with specific expertise in the rail industry preferred. Mastery of at least one cybersecurity qualification: CEH, IEC, 62443, CREST Certifications. Proven experience delivering cybersecurity consultancy in complex, multidisciplinary environments. Academic background and/or industry certifications (e.g., CISSP) in cybersecurity. Demonstrated expertise in project management, technical consulting, and engineering within the cybersecurity field. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and translate data into strategic insights and recommendations. Familiarity with project management practices and the ability to support skill development in others.
