Role Responsibility: Muslim Chaplain – Part Time G4S Care and Rehabilitation Services HMP Rye Hill, Rugby, CV23 8SZ Salary: £19,351.33 per annum Permanent - Part Time (20 hours per week). Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. HMP Rye Hill is a category 'B' training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 664 sentenced male adults. We are now looking for a part time Muslim Chaplain, to join our multi-faith Chaplaincy team, reporting in to the Chaplaincy Manager. To succeed in this role, you will be an engaging individual with excellent interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with colleagues of different faiths. You will be able to work flexibly within a complex environment. Some of the key responsibilities of this role are: Act as Muslim faith advisor in the establishment providing advice, pastoral and spiritual welfare to both prisoners and staff Facilitate and deliver opportunities for worship, study and religious programmes Contribute towards the development of local policy, procedures and practice as needed Provide support to all staff and colleagues as needed Provide pastoral care to prisoners and help to provide support and bring resolution to crisis situations where required Nurture Chaplaincy volunteers in their contribution Work collaboratively with other Chaplains on the maintenance and provision of facilities for worship and prayer Ensure your prison faith community is aware of relevant religious events and coordinate establishment support for these Acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature, supplies and materials Contribute to training programmes as needed Take responsibility for your own spiritual health and development, allowing time for private prayer, study and retreat. The Ideal Candidate: All Muslim Faith Ministers must have in depth knowledge of Islam (preferably holding a recognised qualification in Islamic Studies at graduate level). They should be able to demonstrate at least three years of excellent Imam skills (including relevant practical experience in delivery of worship, group work and pastoral care). The Faith Minister must have demonstrable knowledge of the different schools of thought and denominations within Islam and be willing to help in, encourage interest in, and facilitate practice of those schools and denominations when required by different segments of the congregation.
