Role Purpose: Shape, lead, and manage the strategic direction and growth of DigiHaul, a wholly owned subsidiary of DHL Supply Chain, to provide cutting-edge digital logistics services. Oversee the execution of the business strategy across the UK region to drive operational excellence, optimize the customer experience, and achieve long-term financial performance. Ensure the organization remains at the forefront of digital transformation in logistics, delivering scalable and innovative solutions that enhance the overall supply chain ecosystem. The role requires a growth mindset. Our expectation is for Double digit growth year on year, both through the DHL organisation and with external to DHL customers. The role will be responsible for ensuring our haulier partners use the technology we provide so we can provide world class levels of service to our customer base. DigiHaul is a growth business, so it’s critical the right candidate can set clear objectives and make the right decisions on priorities. Managing Director responsibilities: Leadership & Organizational Strategy - Lead the end-to-end operations and strategic direction for DigiHaul, ensuring alignment with DHL Supply Chain’s vision. - Develop and execute a 5 year strategy that drives growth, scalability, and profitability for the UK. - Lead teams of executives, senior managers, and operational leaders across diverse functional areas. - Build, nurture, and retain a high-performance leadership team capable of executing the organization’s strategic goals. - Promote a culture of innovation, agility and customer-centricity, fostering an environment that continuously adapts to market trends, tech advancements, and evolving customer needs. Digital Transformation & Innovation - Spearhead the digital transformation of the industry by driving DigiHaul’s system technologies and data-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Strategic Oversight & Operational Excellence - Oversee the seamless execution of logistics operations, ensuring full alignment with global supply chain standards and SLA’s. - Monitor the implementation of safety protocols, ensuring the protection of people, goods, and data, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. - Identify opportunities to enhance supply chain resilience and operational capacity, scaling to meet the dynamic demands of global customers and business volumes. - Implement world-class operational processes and systems, including performance management frameworks, operational models, and continuous improvement initiatives with particular focus on Haulier compliance/management. - Manage complex initiatives that have significant impact on the financial results, customer satisfaction, and market competitiveness. Financial Leadership & Business Growth - Develop and approve operating budgets, investment proposals, and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. - Direct major investments and oversee the evaluation of potential strategic partnerships to enhance capabilities and expand market reach. - Drive profitable growth by optimizing cost structures, introducing revenue streams, and implementing best practices for operational efficiency. - Take ownership of key contracts with critical accounts, ensuring continuous contract renewal. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Management - Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with leadership across DHL, ensuring alignment of operational and strategic goals. - Represent the company in negotiations with various stakeholders, including key customers, business partners, and suppliers. - Influence senior business leaders across DHL and external partners to drive alignment with the overall strategic vision. First class communication, business partnering and stakeholder engagement required. - Lead and inspire cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that address complex business challenges and provide value to customers. Quality & Service Excellence - Ensure the highest standards of service, exceeding customer expectations and maintaining a consistent track record of high performance. - Define and implement SLAs and KPIs that align with global supply chain standards and customer requirements. - Lead initiatives to enhance the customer experience through digital solutions, personalized service offerings, and real-time data visibility. Corporate Governance & Risk Management - Ensure compliance with corporate policies, guidelines, and legal/regulatory requirements at various DHL Group levels. - Oversee risk management strategies, ensuring the identification and mitigation of key risks that may impact organizational performance. Stakeholder Management Internal Stakeholders - Lead negotiations with key departments and exec teams across DHL ensuring cross-functional alignment in strategic initiatives. - Collaborate closely with execs in DHL Supply Chain and other relevant departments to define and refine the company’s overall business strategy. - Foster relationships with internal teams to develop and implement solutions across the supply chain, improving both operational performance and customer satisfaction. External Stakeholders - Build strong, trusted partnerships with customers, suppliers, and Haulage providers, ensuring alignment on shared business goals. - Represent the business in industry forums, conferences, and external engagements, positioning the organization as a leader in digital transport and logistics innovation. - Influence external partners and stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry leaders, to support the company’s goals and advocate for policies that promote digital transformation in logistics.
