Community Phlebotomy Supervisor
Band 4
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for Dorset Healthcare, as a Community Phlebotomist Supervisor within the Weymouth and Portland Locality. This is a unique job both as a phlebotomist working within patients' homes, making clinical decisions, and leading and managing a small, close-knit team.
This is an ideal role for an experienced phlebotomist, with the ability to teach and manage other staff. The post holder will manage the caseload, prioritise the workload, and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This will be a developing role as the service expands.
This is a 24-hour role, over four days from Monday to Friday only. There is no requirement for work on weekends or bank holidays.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
Access to a car with a valid driving license is essential for this role. Subject to the provisions of the Equality Act, the ability to travel using one's own vehicle on Trust business is required.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide a high-quality and efficient community phlebotomy service to housebound patients in the locality.
2. To supervise the community phlebotomy team daily, ensuring the highest quality of service and allocation of resources.
3. To ensure the phlebotomists are appropriately trained to a high level, and that skills remain current and updated when required, including performance management.
4. Experience of clinical work in the community is desirable, but training will be offered to the successful applicant.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
