About the school:
Long Calderwood is a non-denominational, co-educational school serving the Calderwood area of East Kilbride. Our school motto is 'Imagine and Achieve' and our vision is: 'To create inventive and imaginative thinkers who respond to change and uphold the school values of Respect, Excellence, Friendship, Courage, Determination, Inspiration, Equality and Compassion.' We aim to achieve this through working in partnership with families and the local community.
We are looking to appoint a Head Teacher who is required to:
1. Manage the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the wider community in compliance with the requirements of the statutes relating to the provision of education.
2. Formulate clear aims for the school and policies to ensure their achievement within the framework of the Council's policies.
3. Ensure the communication of these aims and policies to all staff, pupils, parents and other users of the school.
4. Act on behalf of the Council, as principal professional adviser to the Parent Council.
You will be required to study for and obtain the Standard for Headship, as determined by the GTC. Failure to achieve the Standard for Headship within 30 months of starting your post may lead to termination of your employment as a Head Teacher.

GTC Registration:
It is a legal requirement for any teacher teaching in a Scottish state school to be registered with GTC Scotland.
Qualification:
Holding the Standard for Headship became a prerequisite for teachers taking up their first permanent headteacher post at Local Authority and grant-aided schools in Scotland from 1 August 2020.
