Location : MOBILE, covering Kent and Southeast London Areas Contract Type: Permanent Salary : Starting from £25,986 - £28,407 per annum, depending upon skills and experience Hours : Full Time, Average of 37 hours per week, Mon - Fri What you'll be doing As Head Gardener, you'll take charge of the daily care and maintenance of cemeteries and plots. You'll plan tasks, organise resources, and ensure everything meets the highest standards. From planting and pruning to renovations, you'll use your skills to keep the grounds beautiful and well-maintained. You will also lead a team of gardeners. This includes setting goals, providing training, and reviewing their progress. Your role will involve providing guidance when needed and making sure everyone works safely and effectively. Working with contractors will be part of your responsibilities. You'll monitor their work, provide guidance, and ensure they follow our standards. What you need to have A BTEC National Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Amenity Horticulture (or equivalent) is essential. Relevant horticultural experience will be considered Proven experience in horticultural practices Experience in supervising a team, setting performance goals, conducting appraisals, and training Strong communication skills Knowledge of health and safety policies, including risk assessments, COSHH, and safe working practices A good level of computer literacy A full UK manual driving licence Who we are The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is an organisation dedicated to honouring and caring for the graves and memorials of servicemembers who died in the two World Wars.
