We are seeking a dedicated Science Technician to join our team and contribute to the excellent educational provision we offer. Working alongside our teaching staff in the science department, you will play a vital role in supporting high-quality science education across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
About Us
Derby Cathedral School, part of the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust (DDAT), is the first Church of England Secondary School in the Diocese. Since opening in 2018, we have grown into a thriving learning community, now accommodating over 1,200 students from Years 7 to 13. The Role
We're seeking someone with excellent organizational skills, competent ICT abilities, and a good understanding of the science curriculum. The ideal candidate will be a team player who can also work independently, with the flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of our growing school. You should be committed to maintaining professional standards and have a genuine desire to support young people in their scientific education.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparation of science materials, equipment, and experiments for lessons across all science subjects
* Maintaining laboratories and preparation rooms, ensuring equipment and services are in good working order
* Carrying out risk assessments for technical activities and maintaining safety standards
* Managing stocks of science chemicals and equipment, including ordering supplies and checking deliveries
* Supporting teaching staff by preparing solutions, setting up apparatus, and providing technical advice
