Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrument Maintenance Technician with extensive experience in maintaining instrumentation within the Petrochemical Industry. The Senior Instrument Maintenance Technician will join the base maintenance team of a leading energy company, responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Fife, with a 12-month contract under IR35 regulations.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation, including Triconex PLCs, Fisher/Foxboro/ABB valve positioners, control/trip valve overhauls, C300 DCS systems, pressure/flow transmitters, level instrumentation (both pneumatic and electronic), vibration monitoring systems, and speed and temperature measurement devices.
Conduct SIF/SIS testing for the site, perform preventative maintenance testing, analyze performance to determine root causes of failures, and recommend appropriate repair methods.
Handle metering tasks, including calibrations for site billing instrumentation such as Vortex and Coriolis measurement types.
Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to CompEx Ex 01-04 standards.
Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Demonstrate resilience, ownership, and innovation in solving maintenance problems.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of systems.
Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair activities using SAP.
Adhere to safety protocols and site/industry standards, acting as a strong safety leader.
Apply and follow work permits through the site Permit to Work System (PTWS).
Support and encourage teamwork between operations, engineering, and project groups.
Ensure the quality and timely completion of work scheduled by the Maintenance Program.
Develop personal and team technical skills, acting as a mentor for apprentices.
Support work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and complement the efforts of other work groups.
Generate Management of Change requests (MOCs) on control-related equipment and installations.

Fluent with computer and IT systems, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Minimum of 10 years' experience in the Petrochemical industry, with experience in maintaining instruments and controls in processing plants or offshore production plants.
Successfully completed an apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an instrument trade. An HNC in Instrument Engineering or equivalent is advantageous.
CompEx Ex01-04 qualified.
Ideally fluent in the use of data management systems such as SAP.
