Our Story
Manchester City Women is an English football club initially founded by City in the Community in 1988. Relaunched by a formal partnership with Manchester City FC, MCWFC entered the FA Women’s Super League and professionalised in 2014. Success has followed in not only the FAWSL but also the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Tyres League Cup, while the team has regularly competed in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
The team plays its home fixtures at Joie Stadium, a 7,000 capacity arena. The stadium sits on the wider Etihad Campus, which also encompasses the City Football Academy, a state-of-the-art training and development facility that houses its women’s, men’s and academy teams.

Man City’s Performance Analysis and Insights strategy aims to continually create innovative and actionable insights that drive world-leading team and player development decisions to help the Women’s 1st Team consistently challenge for major trophies. This post will contribute to MCWFC 1st Team success by providing actionable insights through performance analysis utilising video and performance data to support coach and practitioner decision making and positively impact daily training and performance.

Your Impact
1. Work closely with MCWFC coaches in providing performance analysis support that provides actionable technical/tactical insights to support decision making in preparation for and during 1st team fixtures.
2. Working in collaboration with coaches and the wider MDT, continually provide innovative & actionable insights that support individual player development plans.
3. Provide in-game performance analysis functions including filming, live coding and feedback as required to support in-game decision making.
4. Provide innovative and actionable insights in contributing to and supporting the ongoing plan-do review process on a Team, Unit, and Individual level.
5. Working in collaboration with Coaches & the wider Performance Team, contribute to the development and evolution of player positional profiles that utilise actionable insights to objectively support individual player development.
6. Working in collaboration with Coaches & the wider Performance Team, contribute to the development and evolution of a ‘best practice’ library of analysis (video & data) capturing the MCWFC playing model to support player and staff onboarding and ongoing development.
7. Work in partnership with the MCWFC 1st Team Performance Analysts, coaches, and practitioners to provide training analysis as required.
8. Support the response to ad hoc queries and analysis requests from coaches, players and practitioners as delegated by your line manager.
What we are looking for
Essential
* Undergraduate qualification in Sports Science, Performance Analysis or a related area.
* Relevant experience in a performance environment as a performance analyst.
* Experienced using performance analysis related software (SportsCode, Hudl etc).
* Using performance analysis methods to analyse and understand football tactics.
* Capability to facilitate conversations with video and data visualisation and engage people from a range of backgrounds with novel / actionable insights.
* Track record of building effective working relationships with coaches, players, and practitioners from a diverse range of backgrounds.
* Experience in a performance analysis role identifying and communicating actionable insights.
* Experience of working with sports performance related data either in previous employment or as a hobby.
* Flexibility and openness to work irregular and unsociable hours outside of ‘normal’ office hours following a senior 1st team schedule (evenings, weekends, and bank holidays).
Desirable
* Master’s Qualification in Performance Analysis or a related area.
* Previous experience in professional football.
* Competent using a visual analytics tool such as Tableau, QlikSense or Power BI.
* ‘UEFA B’ Licence football qualification.
