Therapeutic Teaching & Learning Assistant

£85-£95 per day PAYE
Starfyn Education are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching & Learning Assistant for one of our clients based in Lewisham. The school's primary need is SEMH but needs an individual to support pupils with co-regulation, leading to self-regulation, with the aim of being able to cope and learn within a mainstream setting.
Our client is looking for a dedicated member to join their team. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a clear understanding of family dynamics and be able to utilise a holistic, trauma-responsive approach to develop trusting relationships with parents/carers, both at the pre-admission and setting-in stages. Utilising a therapeutic approach, you will be supporting pupils through a personalised set of tasks based on their interests and the curriculum.
The Role:
Days Required - Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4:30pm (Full-time)
Pay - £85 - £90 per day (weekly pay)
Employment Type - Agency (Either Temporary to Permanent or Ongoing Contract)
The Ideal Candidate will:
To be considered for the role, the desirable candidate will have previous experience of working within a School, College, or Provision. However, we will also consider candidates that have some of the following:
1. Childcare Experience - working with children and young people previously (working with children with challenging behaviour and complex needs including SEMH).
2. Trauma-informed training.
3. Great interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine, caring attitude.
4. Promoting pupils' educational, physical, cultural, emotional, and social well-being.
5. Providing appropriate support for the development of communication and independence in preparation for adult life.
6. Knowledge of emotion coaching, TEACCH approach, PACE, and the theory behind zones of regulation.
7. Assist pupils on (1:1 or in groups) with a teacher present.
8. Creative, enthusiastic, imaginative, and caring approach to children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities.
9. A willingness to learn and have a genuine enthusiasm to make a difference.
Your Main Duties:
1. Supporting pupils' learning within the classroom.
2. Assisting in the management of pupils.
3. Recording and evidencing of pupil's progress.
4. Assisting in the preparation & maintenance of learning materials within the classroom environment.
5. Assisting with supervising and monitoring pupils during the day including lunch, break time, and other activities.
6. Seeking guidance to report any activities or incidents relating to pupils.
As an agency worker, you are only paid for the days you have worked. Therefore, you will not be paid during the school holidays. We pay through an Umbrella provider and will uplift your daily rate to avoid you incurring any costs.
