Our Maternity Services, based at our Women's Hospital, is a leading Perinatal Centre and one of the largest centres in the UK. We are the designated Fetal Medicine Centre for the West Midlands and Wales. Therefore, we care for women and babies with very complex needs, who need more than standard maternity care. We deliver outstanding care to some of the West Midlands' sickest babies from 22 weeks gestation. We are host to the West Midlands Human Milk Bank and we serve a maternity department supporting the births of approximately 8,000 babies per annum.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced midwife to provide inspirational leadership and management for our Delivery Suite, based in our Women's Hospital. This is a substantive permanent position. The successful candidate will be part of our dynamic Intrapartum Care Team and able to support the Matron. They will be part of managing the clinical front-facing team and daily operational issues to ensure safe and outstanding care for women in the intrapartum period. This extends from Delivery Suite and our Induction Suite, and cross cover for the Birth Centre manager. There will be very close relationships with our dependent services at all stages of the pregnancy and with our Neonatal Unit, our children's specialty services at our Children's Hospital and our Hub and Spoke centers. Outstanding communication skills are required to ensure good working relationships with a wide-ranging multidisciplinary team and families.
