Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;
To provide day to day advice on all health, safety and environment issues contained within the integrated management system. To deploy company policies and procedures to ensure that the Ringway Business Unit complies with Company requirements and meets their legal objectives.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;
* To promote Ringway’s Purpose, Vision and Values and contribute to Ringway’s corporate objectives.
* Provide health, safety and environment advice in relation to strategy, policy and procedures to all levels of management.
* Address health, safety and environment issues via meetings.
* Draft comprehensive documentation to support the IMS.
* Train operational personnel to fulfil their local responsibilities regarding health, safety and environmental management.
* Liaise with enforcing authorities and other interested parties, with support and guidance from Ringway experts.
* Assist in incident investigations with operational personnel including incident analysis, identifying root causes.
* To provide support in the development, monitoring and review of appropriate key performance indicators.
* Assist the development of an effective department that delivers Health, Safety and Environmental performance in line with Company objectives.
* Facilitate the development of an appropriate risk management culture.
* Other duties consistent with the above that may be directed or implied from time to time.
* Identify internal customers and agree appropriate service level agreements.
* Support working groups to deliver health, safety and environmental innovation, improvement and share best practice.
* Add value to each Division so that their business objectives are attained.
* Ensuring all Environment permits, and consent are in place for each depot.
* Carry out condition audits and inspections against Health, Safety and Environment standards.
* Liaise with Eurovia UK HSE Department.
Formal qualifications required;
* Corporate membership of IOSH and/or qualified to NEBOSH Construction Certificate or above.
Experience required;
* A minimum of two years' related experience as a health, safety and environmental adviser.
* A good working knowledge of legislation, guidance and standards relevant to the proposed work.
Knowledge;
* Foster professionalism in all aspects of the role.
* Ensure a seamless service drawing knowledge from company experts.
* Hands on and active support for colleagues.
* Up to date with current legislation.
* Professional and tidy appearance including courteous and prompt telephone manner.
* Keeping all promises within agreed deadlines and work with other members of group services.
