The ITAM Manager collaborates with global IT teams and cross-functional stakeholders to lead strategic initiatives aimed at continuously enhancing IT Asset Management processes. This role is responsible for overseeing the management of the entire lifecycle of IT assets, ensuring ongoing improvements and maintaining comprehensive visibility and control over all assets. Through effective lifecycle management and strategic planning, this position optimises asset utilisation, reduces costs, and maximises value realisation for the business.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of a strategic ITAM roadmap that aligns with the organisation’s long-term goals and objectives.
- Enhance collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of ITAM strategies with business objectives and to gather feedback for continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to integrate and enhance the team's collective skills and knowledge through regular knowledge-sharing sessions and continuous learning, whilst identifying opportunities for shifting left operational tasks.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging the identification and implementation of enhancements in IT asset management processes and practices.
- Supervise the planning and management of the full lifecycle of IT assets, including deployment, usage, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement, with a focus on improving the customer experience across all touchpoints of IT Asset Management.
- Oversee the standardisation and globalisation of all IT Asset Management processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across the organisation.
- Ensure the centralisation and accuracy and of data to enhance reporting capabilities, ensuring reliable and accessible data is readily available for timely reporting to ensure informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Establish a unified KPI governance dashboard to report all key ITAM performance measures, driving continuous improvement opportunities and implementing changes to enhance IT asset management practices.
- Continuously drive initiatives to optimise IT assets and enhance value realisation. Evaluate data and trends to uncover opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.
- Identify opportunities to systematise process gaps or knowledge gaps, reducing the reliance on informal communication channels. Ensure knowledge is readily available for the IT Service Team to enhance the customer experience when handling incidents and requests, and that necessary customer facing processes are systematised and accessible to the customer.
- Ensure that all ITAM processes have documented processes and associated work instructions (KBs) to maintain consistency and clarity across the organisation.
- Ensure that all supporting group IT team members understand their roles and responsibilities in managing ITAM operational tasks, closing any knowledge gaps and fostering accountability.
- Manage the forecasting of IT asset needs and the associated budgets by collaborating with IT teams, finance, and other departments to ensure accurate predictions and effective financial planning.
- Ensure that all approved software and hardware services are catalogued with detailed entries. This includes overseeing the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive catalogue that lists all approved IT assets.
- Oversee regular audits and reconciliation of IT assets to maintain data accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance of all software licenses with licensing agreements, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Oversee, initiate, and support project requirements to ensure successful planning, execution, and completion.
- Own and ensure the ITAM tools are maintained and continuously improved.
- Oversee the operational workload and priorities, ensuring alignment with business needs and timely resolution of issues.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for audit requirements, ensuring all necessary information is provided and compliance is maintained throughout the audit process.
Essential:
- A strong understanding of ITAM principles, including software and hardware asset management, licensing, and compliance.
- Experience in negotiating with vendors and managing vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement and compliance.
- Ability to analyse data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficient in supporting and driving ITAM related projects, including planning, execution, and driving progress.
- Skills in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with IT assets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong logical and analytical approach to solving complex issues.
- Experience with the ITAM ServiceNow modules.
- Ability to manage budgets, forecast costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Experience in leading global teams.
- Proven ability to oversee the development of professional documentation, including processes and work instructions.
- Experience in managing and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams globally.
- Excellent working knowledge of ITAM Processes and its application to business operations.
Desirable:
- Skills in managing and leading change initiatives within the organisation.
- Experience with agile methodologies.
- Professional certification in ITAM or working towards certification.
