University of Staffordshire is looking for someone to join our award winning Campus Safety & Security Team. This is an exciting role where you will ensure a safe environment for staff, students and visitors across our campus, by engaging with our customers, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities and responding to incidents. Join us in a role where every day offers new challenges and opportunities to make a difference
As a Security Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular foot patrols, enforcing parking regulations, and safeguarding the University’s most valuable assets. From monitoring CCTV footage to responding to alarms, your vigilance will protect against theft, fire, and other critical safety concerns.
You'll be the first line of defence in emergencies—managing situations with confidence, assisting with evacuations, and providing essential first aid when needed – it is a physically demanding role. Whether it’s overseeing visitor management, supporting events, or maintaining detailed incident reports, your contribution will help uphold the University’s security standards and create a trusted environment for students, staff, and visitors alike.
However, this is not a traditional security role. As well as providing the services you would expect, we go above and beyond the usual expectations, including supporting our students with mental health first aid provision, delivering safety induction talks and supporting our graduation ceremonies. If you want a role where no two days are the same, have a passion for helping people and have experience providing exceptional customer service, we would love to hear from you. Experience in security is not necessarily essential as we can provide training, and put you through your SIA licences. Although experience would be advantageous, what is most important is the right attitude, passion and willingness to learn.
Please note, it is essential you will pass a DBS check via the SIA process, in order to undertake this role.
