We are looking for an enthusiastic person, with experience of working with clients around lifestyle change, to join our team working with patients with obesity. A psychologically led service, we focus on health and eating behaviour change; you would be working in groups and 1-1 to provide assessments and interventions for patients around their weight issues.
You could also be involved in developing patient resources and potentially using digital approaches to support our interventions. You will have a chance to work jointly with other psychology colleagues as well as medical professionals and dieticians.

To provide specific evidence –based weight reduction/management assessment, advice, education and support to obese individuals including individual and sometimes group-based sessions.
Ensure patients under their caseload receive access to the wider MDT for specialist advice, i.e. dietetic, psychology or physician input where appropriate and that patients are receiving the appropriate intervention as per the service model.
To provide lifestyle screening assessments for Tier 3 patients, incorporating the bio/psycho/social model of obesity under the supervision of the clinical psychologist or clinical lead
Actively participating in the delivery of group-based education and screening sessions and to collect standardised outcome measures.
To thoroughly baseline assess a client’s health status including analysis of medications and health conditions and make judgments and decisions on suitability to partake in a physical activity programme in line with service protocols.
We became a standalone NHS organisation in 2011 and a Foundation Trust with greater autonomy from 2014. We were subsequently rated ‘Outstanding’ overall by the Care Quality Commission in September 2019.
We care for patients across a wide range of services and locations, including 10 community hospital and 28 health centres. We also deliver care from patients’ own homes, GP practices, schools and care homes. Our digital transformation programme and contemporary ways of working mean we’re also able to deliver high quality virtual care via remote consultations, where clinically appropriate.
Our current Tier 3 team is small and supportive with everyone having a key, valued role in our service delivery.
You will join an ever-expanding department which includes Health Psychology; Psychologists and allied professionals working into Public Health; cancer services and a Diabetes Education Team. You will have the chance to work closely with these colleagues in a friendly environment.
