The Role The role is a 5 hour minimal contract, working over a 7 working day week, with a mix of 9am-5pm, 2pm-10pm and occasionally 7am-3pm shifts. There are no split shifts. The average working hours for Commis Chefs is approximately 30 hours depending on the needs of the business. This is a hands on position with bags of practical skills required. You'll work alongside senior and career chefs who will lead and direct you on task to hone these skills and assist with your development in the catering industry. We have a proven record of Commis Chefs continuing onto higher and more responsible careers within catering. Key Commis Chef Competencies Assisting with the smooth running of the kitchen preparation areas. Assisting in food production. Ability to work unsupervised. Making sure that all kitchen equipment like food mixers, fridges, cookers are in good working order. Reporting any faulty equipment to senior management. Keeping the storerooms well stocked and organised. Assisting with food stock distribution across the site. Completing due diligence tasks and daily paperwork. Keen and willing to work and has a can-do attitude. The ideal Commis Chef will have: Previous experience in a commercial kitchen. Basic knowledge of food hygiene, and accreditation. A full UK driving licence. A good understand of IT systems. An eye for attention to detail. A real passion for food. What's in it for you? An hourly rate of £11.75.
