Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Learning Facilitator (PLF) Midwife within the Family Care Group. The post will require the post holder to work across the York and Scarborough Trust sites.
The PLF midwife works as a member of the maternity and neonatal senior leadership team, working in collaboration with local stakeholders to improve the experience of student practitioners within the maternity services. You will work both independently and as part of the MDT to lead and coordinate the clinical, managerial and educational requirements for students gaining experience within the maternity department.
The role is cross-site, encompassing the footprint of York and Scarborough NHS Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They will be required to provide advice and support on all aspects of midwifery education, with other responsibilities including supporting analysis and decision-making within clinical areas. The PLF midwife will be confident to develop and provide training independently and supporting the facilitation of statutory updates with staff across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
You will be an autonomous practitioner, promoting the best practice and highest standards within maternity services. As a highly motivated individual, with a passion for providing high quality, evidence-based specialist maternity care the postholder will be integral to the evolving and developing team. Leading by example, you will empower staff in their professional development. As an expert practitioner midwifery, you will be responsible for liaising, guiding and advising the MDT and maternity stakeholders in the provision of optimum training opportunities.

Person specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background and preferred ways of understanding
* Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development, and willingness to develop own clinical and professional skills through the identification of personal performance objectives
* Knowledge of SLEC, and experience of implementation of the charter to support improvement in the learning environment
* Able to demonstrate professional expertise and knowledge acquired through post registration academic study, clinical leadership, and management development.
* Experience of presenting to a range of audiences
Qualifications and Training
* Registered Midwife – with active NMC registration
* Certificate in education or willingness to work towards.
* Experience in writing guidelines and patient care pathways, using research-based evidence.
