We are looking for strong, inspiring, passionate and confident SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) teaching assistants equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with young learners who may need extra support. This will range from cover for day to day, short term and long term placements supporting children in education. The school is based in Darlington and aims to develop children into self-assured, confident, happy and positive young people. The school provides education and support to primary aged children with social, emotional and mental health needs.
In this role, you will be working with students aged between KS1 and KS2, creating positive relationships and an inclusive learning environment. If you have a range of both SEN and SEMH experience, the role would have an immediate start. Some of your key responsibilities may include supporting learning, providing individual and group support, helping prepare learning materials, and looking after the mental and physical well-being of students.
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have:
* Experience in assisting young learners in education on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
* Level 2 or Level 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months experience in an educational establishment
* Team Teach training
* Excellent communication skills
* A calm and caring demeanor
* Experience with challenging behaviour and resilience
