HSBC Alternatives is the alternative investment arm of HSBC Asset Management, investing globally in a wide spectrum of alternatives asset classes which include private market funds, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure, private debt, and venture capital, and has AUM of $58 billion.
We are currently seeking a professional to join our team as an Associate, Alternative Fund Research. The role holder will have responsibility for performing operational due diligence reviews for investments into hedge funds and other private market funds (private equity, private debt, etc.). Such responsibilities will include conducting due diligence reviews, drafting assessment reports of managers, and making presentations to various committees and stakeholders.
In this role you will:
* Conduct operational due diligence of external investment / fund managers as part of the HSBC’s investment process. These meetings take place in face-to-face and online settings and cover all areas of the client operations to assess the strength of the organization and its ability to mitigate operational risk.
* Document due diligence meetings and present findings to the various committees and stakeholders.
* Perform regulatory research and reviews of investment & wealth managers.
* Analyse underlying manager financial statements.
* Conduct research into domestic and international markets to assess regulatory and tax issues involving trading or establishing a local presence in those markets.
* Maintain understanding of ongoing developments in the hedge fund and private markets industry, including ESG, regulations, structuring, trends, valuations, etc.
* Support senior colleagues and where required take an active part in client meetings including presentations etc.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
* A Chartered Accountant qualification or Chartered Financial Analyst qualification is essential for this role.
* Strong working knowledge related to Global Markets or Asset Management space and their financial instruments. Specific involvement with hedge funds, private equity funds would be desirable.
* Demonstrable experience of auditing or performing due diligence of Asset Managers, Investment Managers or other wealth fund managers.
* Be highly analytical and experienced in conducting research and compiling and writing financial reports and other documents that can be used to inform senior leaders in investment decision making.
* Excellent organisation and planning skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and control multiple projects simultaneously.
* Have a confident approach to working with senior client stakeholders at all levels.
This role is based in HSBC office at 8 Canada Square London you should be able to travel to London on a weekly basis. The role will involve regular travel for client meetings and other role related reasons.
