Role
Working with the Cub section, helping Young People aged 8 to 10 1/2 years, have fun, learn skills for life and work towards earning their Chief Scout Silver Award.
You, as part of the team, will help plan and deliver activities in a safe and secure environment, ensure personal records are kept up to date, adhere to the group's policies and procedures, and undertake role-specific training, as and when required. This may include a First Aid course, all of which are provided free of charge.
Expectations
* Delivery of a safe, exciting, and stimulating Balanced Programme for the Section considering the needs, interests, and abilities of the young people.
* Ensure the safe delivery of the programme in accordance with the Policy, Organisation, and Rules of The Scout Association.
* Ensure that every young person in the Section has the opportunity to attend at least one night's away experience each year.
* Actively support and promote the achievement of badges and awards, in particular the Chief Scouts’ Award.
* Actively work with other adults in the Group to support and promote Group or multi-section activities and events.
Time commitment
Sessions run during term time, and you will have the opportunity to join the camps and activities organized (ahead of time) in the school holidays. Flexible volunteering is all that they are about, so no time is too little. Don’t think you need any skills, nor do you need to commit to a weekly schedule; there is always a role for you in the Group. All we ask for is a desire to learn and enthusiasm to work with young people. If you can only help out once a month, they can make it work.
Location
Cubs meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 to 8pm at De Morley Garth, Sheringham.
About the organisation:
The Scout Association is the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation. They change lives by offering 6- to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure, and the chance to help others so that they make a positive impact in communities. Scouts help children and young adults reach their full potential. Their members gain valuable skills for life including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness, and commitment. They help young people to get jobs, save lives, and even change the world.
