Next PLC is looking for an exceptional Group Financial Controller to join our dynamic Finance department. About the Role As Group Financial Controller, you will lead a team of 6 staff and 1 PA., reporting directly to the Central Finance Director. Your key responsibilities will include: Strategic Reporting: Preparing and presenting consolidated accounts, including historical management accounts, forecasts, and budgets, to support Board-level decision-making and future planning. Producing the monthly Board Report for Main Board meetings and preparing materials for Audit Committees, attending and contributing to these discussions. Financial Reporting & Compliance: Overseeing the production of half-yearly and annual financial accounts consolidations. Preparing sections of the Annual Report and Accounts for external publication to maintain the Group's professional profile. Ensuring compliance with statutory accounting requirements and corporate governance standards across the Group Collaboration & Advisory: Partnering with teams across the business to enhance financial controls and ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Working with external advisers (e.g., auditors, lawyers, bankers) to address audit issues and ensure the Group meets its financial objectives. Payroll & Overhead Management: Supervising Directors’ payroll processes and supporting the control of Group Central overheads, including system development and operation. About You We’re looking for someone who brings: Expertise: A qualified Chartered or Certified Accountant with strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS) and financial accounting skills. Experience: Familiarity with working alongside professional advisers such as auditors, lawyers, and financial institutions. Communication & Leadership Skills: Confidence in working with Main Board members, finance colleagues, and external parties. Exceptional report writing and presentation skills to produce high-quality internal and external communications. Pragmatism & Problem-Solving: A results-driven mindset with the ability to tackle challenges with a practical, solutions-focused approach. Continuous Development: A commitment to staying updated on accounting, legal, and regulatory developments, combined with a strong commercial awareness.
